Here at Make Happy HQ we’re not surprised by the ONS’s latest research which suggests that us Brits are a bit happier than we were 12 months ago.

After all, in the last year we found out that we’re blooming brilliant at Olympics (hosting and partaking) and have had British wins at Wimbledon, the Ashes, the Tour de France and more. On top of all that, it seems like the economy just might be perking up at last.

So good news all round, and it’s great to see this reflected in people’s happiness levels. There’s lots of fascinating stuff in the survey, so it’s worth giving the BBC’s summary of the findings a read. Something which stood out to us was the clear correlation between employment and happiness, underlining once again the enormous impact that work has on well being, and the importance of keeping your workforce happy.
