Afghanaid book launch

Published by Make Happy at 11:42 am under News

Last night was the launch of the book we designed for Afghanaid at the Afghan Embassy. With its stunning archive images and evocative folk poetry, I Cried on the Mountain Top presents a compelling portrait of the remarkable culture of Afghanistan. Men, women and children appear in ordinary and extraordinary settings – magnificent rural landscapes, war-torn streets, and intimate domestic interiors. Complemented by some beautiful specially commissioned calligraphy, this volume offers rare insights into the soul of Afghanistan.

The pictures are from the Afghanaid archive (1980-2010) and the traditional Afghan poetry was selected and translated by Veronica Doubleday.

Kudos to you for encouraging compelling stories from this war torn region.

I helped work on this book and was so pleased by the results. Thanks for your help. It’s great to show a wider perspective on a country that seems to be represented in the media by dusty pictures of Helmand.
